Borat ( R)
Borat is one of the funniest comedies of 2006. The more you watch the movie, the more hilarious it gets. Aside from the humor though, it is also a clever satire and one of the best mock documentaries ever.
Journalist Borat Sagdiyev leaves his native Kazakhstan to travel to America to make a documentary. As he zigzags across the nation, Borat meets real people in real situations with hysterical consequences. His backward behavior generates strong reactions around him, exposing prejudices in American culture. In some cases, Borat's interview subjects embrace his outrageous views on race and sex by agreeing with him, while others attempt to offer a patriotic lesson in Western values.
After a short time in New York, he discovers American television and falls in love with Pamela Anderson on "Baywatch." He then begins a road trip to Los Angeles so that he can propose marriage to her. One of the funniest sequences in the movie is when Borat and Azamat (Borat’s producer) wrestle, naked, over the possession of a "Baywatch" fan magazine.
Where Borat scores, is in its depiction of America's cultural differences, as seen from the outside. In one scene, Borat and Azamat check into a motel owned by a nice Jewish couple. They become convinced that their lives are in danger when they find two cockroaches under the door; they assume that the old couple has used their shape-shifting powers and are preparing to attack.
Borat is one of the most original movies in cinema history. It is a unique eye-opener for everyone.
