Happy Feet (U)
"Happy Feet" is set deep in Antarctica. In the land of Emperor Penguins, where each needs a heart song to attract a soul mate, a penguin is born who cannot sing. The story revolves around Mumble, son of Memphis and Norma Jean, who is the worst singer in the world. However, as it happens, he is a brilliant tap dancer.
Happy Feet is a great animated movie-not just for the kids, but for adults too. The movie stars the voices of Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, and Hugo Weaving. Mumble has the voice of a puberty-stricken boy and is unable to keep a tune. His mother, Norma Jean (voiced by Nicole Kidman), thinks it's a cute habit, but his father (voiced by Hugh Jackman) ostracizes him. Mumble realizes his only chance at redemption is to find the source of the penguins' current fish famine. His only companions are four smaller penguins from a different tribe. Robin Williams provides two voices and Brittany Murphy sings and voices Mumble's love interest, Gloria.
The music arrangement and performance are chillingly sweet. The acting is solid and animation dynamic. It ranges from cute to dramatic (and occasionally dark) in a matter of seconds. Director George Miller’s camerawork is breathtaking; he presents certain sequences with a unique "birds-eye-view" technique. When the young penguins first learn to swim, he choreographs a fantastic underwater ballet.
Happy Feet is a charming adventure, and it will engage you in the act of storytelling. It is truly one of the best of the year. Happy Feet is our Best Top Ten All Time Animation Movie
